What an end to the carp fishing season at Oakview Lake
Jamie and Amy Stitt with their 10-month-old son Jake have a cracking week on their very first carp fishing holiday in France
Amy bagged herself her very first French carp landed on Sunday afternoon, beating Jamie's PB, but he was delighted for her. We think that the smile on her face tells all. Sunday passed with two more 30's in the net and one more at 26lb. Monday morning around 12noon, this one arrived....
The two of them were clearly delighted with progress so far. Their week continues in much the same way with a whole host of 30's making an appearance on the bank, in fact a total of 12 30's to 39lb 2oz. Clearly, carp fishing in France was ringing their bell. During the Wednesday session, between them they landed 7 carp, 6 of which were 30lb+ And all of this braving the rain and wind and often with Jake in his baby carrier on their backs!. Amazing.
And let's not forget Jamie, after all, this carp fishing holiday was his idea
It's not all wives that will accompany their husbands on a carp fishing holiday and we're not sure whether Jamie had a hard time convincing Amy to come to France with him (clearly the accommodation will have helped), but we think that Jamie could have shot himself in the foot - Amy's catches were bigger than his!.
And at the end of the day
We are very pleased that Jamie managed to get his new UK passport for his trip to France at the last minute (on the Monday before in fact) and that all three of them had a wonderful carp fishing holiday. We're convinced that Amy is now well and truly hooked and that she will continue to try her luck in France for many years to come. But, at the end of the day, the icing on the cake for Jamie and Amy was to see Jake take his first 5 steps - another Oakview first!. Well done to one and all.
