Oakview Lake is a carp fishing holiday destination in France. It’s set in private grounds with a well- stocked carp lake and immaculate lakeside accommodation.

The Oakview accommodation is a two bedroom lodge with a large covered terrace overlooking the carp fishing lake. In addition to two twin bedrooms, it has a sofa bed and is fully equipped to cater for 6 people.

Owners Martin and Shirley live on site but not on the Oakview Lake grounds, so you can enjoy having the carp fishing complex to yourself. You can relax in the knowledge that if you need help, you just need to ask.

We were lucky enough to escape the rat race a few years ago. In England we kept going by looking forward to our next holiday and our trips abroad meant everything to us. We never forget that yours do too.
Martin and Shirley, 30 September 2014

Oakview Carp Fishing Lake has 2½ Acres for up to 4 Anglers

Oakview carp fishing lake has large double swims and you can fish the home swims from the accommodation terrace, so it’s perfect if you want to fish socially. There are swims on all four banks and an island, so four of you can each fish from your own side if that’s what you prefer.

You’ll find lake depths of between 3ft and 9ft, a clay bottom covered in a few inches of silt and lots of clear gravel spots to fish to. Your main carp fishing features in the lake are a deep bowl and a shallow-sided trench leading to it.

You are also welcome to fish for tench, roach, perch and smaller carp in a smaller lake adjacent to the carp fishing lake.

Carp Fishing in France couldn't be better. 100+ Pristine Carp!

Oakview Lake is exclusively for carp fishing holidays in France. It is stocked with well over a hundred carp and the lake is netted regularly to remove fish weighing less than 20lb. Apart from pike and a few small grass carp no other species has been stocked and there are no nuisance fish.

Based on the 2017 carp fishing reports, 1 carp in every 5 fish caught weighed over 40lb and 2 carp in every 3 weighed over 30lb. The chances of catching a fish weighing under 20lb are between 5 and 10%. Oakview saw its first 50 pounders on the bank in the spring of 2017 (pre-spawning weights).

You can see more details of the carp fishing in the Reviews section and check for any breaking stories in our News area. For live fishing news, go to the Oakview Facebook page, where you can often see the catches as they happen and read the banter that goes on between Oakview carp anglers.

    Excellent As Always

By Shane Richardson & Mandy Smith on 11 July 2020

5 Star as always. We have been coming to Oakview Lake on and off for 11 years now, we've always loved it here. We knew this year would be different, but Martin - you have done Shirley proud. It was perfect. Keep up the good work. We'll see you next year. And I've had my best week ever.

Fishing tactics: Manilla and Krill boilies topped with corn worked equally well.

    Catch: 34 Fish: 3 x 40s, 9 x 30s, 10 x 20s, 2 x upper teens, 6 small and 4 pike.

  2. Russell Garner and Mick Taylor: Fantastic

By Russell Garner and Mick Taylor on 2 November 2019

Fantastic accommodation and fishing. First time at the venue and we've already booked for next year. Thank you Martin for the fishing tips and wishing Shirley all the best. We would highly recommend Oakview as an all round holiday venue.

Fishing Tactics: Krill and Vortex worked best.

    2 x 40s, 5 x 30s and 3 x 20s.

  3. Amanda and Nigel Newman + Mom: Brilliant

By Amanda and Nigel Newman + Mom on 26 October 2019

Facilities are brilliant, lake was beautiful; one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever had. Great hosts - very welcoming. Lovely rural location too. Nigel's first experience of fishing in France and he is smitten. Thank you so much Martin and Shirley and hope to see you again very soon! All the very best to you both - Amanda, Nigel and Sandra xxx

A note from Martin: Hosting a new family at Oakview Lake for the first time is a rare treat for us these days. Very glad everyone had a great week despite the most atrocious October fishing conditions I've seen in a decade.

  4. Barry Plummer and Simon Watson: Fantastic Week

    Fantastic Week

By Barry Plummer and Simon Watson on 19 October 2019

Once again a fantastic week at Oakview Lake. After many visits, the standards are as good as the first time we came here 10 years ago. Best week's fishing we have had here and looking forward to returning again next year.

Fishing Tactics: Used bait boat from the home swims. Hook baits - DNA S7 boilies presented as snowman worked best and 2 tone pop ups also worked well. Catching spots - We left a detailed map in the lodge showing the exact locations, including a recently established feature that turned out to be the hot spot of the week.

    Catch: 26 carp - 5 x 40s, 10 x 30s, 9 x 20s and 2 x teens (including a grass carp).

    Warm Welcome Back

By Stephen, Kathy & Dan Eastwood on 5 October 2019

Warmly welcomed back to Oakview. All of us have made the most of our week here. The cottage is very comfortable and feels like a real home from home, except for the new oven (Confused.com!). The only addition we think would be a help would be a heater (since put in place for the Autumn). The whole site is a credit to your hard work Martin and Shirley.

Fishing and Tactics: Weather changeable - windy and heavy showers at start of the week, with better weather at the end (sun in the afternoons). Cell boilies worked best.

    3 x 40s, 2 x 30s and 6 x 20s. Best fish 42lb 6oz.

  7. Geoff Matthews and Glen Lunn: Great Week Once Again

    Great Week Once Again

By Geoff Matthews and Glen Lunn on 28 September 2019

Once again a great week and accommodation second to none. Great to see Martin and Shirley again - had a peaceful and relaxing week, apart from being interrupted by the fish! Many thanks, Geoff & Little Wilf.

    Fishing Tactics: Boilies and maize.

    33 Carp: 2 x 40s, 15 x 30s, 15 x 20s and 1 x 19lb.

    Lost Count Of Our Visits

By Phil and Jan Calladine on 21 September 2019

Oakview never fails to deliver: Excellent hosts as always; great accommodation; stunning surroundings and great fishing. Lost count of our visits, but back in 2020 (twice) - you can't have too much of a good thing (think I wrote that last time!!). Many thanks, Phil & Jan.

Fishing Tactics: Nut crunch and krill boilies over mixed particle.

    1 x 30, 7 x 20s and 1 small.

    Could Not Ask For Better

By Vic, May & Kevin Priest on 14 September 2019

We could not ask for better hosts than Shirley and Martin. Always ready to go the extra mile if needed, to make your stay enjoyable. The lodge is always spotlessly clean and comfortable with a beautiful view down to the lake, and in such a peaceful setting you can leave all your problems behind you and just enjoy the ambience and the fishing.

The FISHING! The reason we visit. The strong healthy carp in pristine condition, and growing larger every year. They certainly give you a run for your money, my arms are aching already. We have already had two carp over 40lb each plus several 30s and 20s et cetera and only halfway through our week. A very big thank you to our hosts.

PS it’s now the end of our holiday and as an oldie I’m completely worn out from catching these pristine carp, but can hardly wait until we return again next year. Our sincere thanks to Martin and Shirley - The Priest family.

    21 Carp - 4 x 40s, 7 x 30s, 5 x 20s, 3 x teens and 2 under 10lb

Our 4th year here and things just seem to be getting better and better. Great venue, excellent fishing and quality fish. So sorry we're not coming next year. Martin and Shirley are perfect hosts in every way. Thanks for some lovely memories once again. Love Philip, Pauline, Brian and Joan.

Fishing Tactics: Tipped snowman worked best

    18 Carp: 6 x 30s, 10 x 20s and 2 teens.
