The Local Area Around Oakview Lake is Stunning!

There's lots to see and do in the area around Oakview Lake - you don't have to fish for carp every day. But most anglers do!

Oakview Lake is situated in the department of Mayenne which boasts countless stunning villages, historical monuments, modern towns and a wealth of things to do that will suit just about everyone.

Read all about Chateau Gontier (our nearest town) Mayenne Tourism and lots of other interesting and fun things to do in and around the beautiful Mayenne in English. Combine a morning out on Thursdays with the typically French Market in Chateau Gontier with a stroll along the banks of the Mayenne.

Also in Chateau Gontier and you will find the animal rescue park (Refuge de l'Arche or Ark Animal Rescue) Refuge English Introduction which is delightful and understated - adults and children alike just adore it.

There are also plenty of restaurants a short distance from Oakview in Chateau Gontier and Laval including Chinese, French, Italian etc., although you should bear in mind that the French have their main meal at lunchtime and a number of restaurants don't stay open for the evening. Or, if you want to stay fairly local why not just borrow one of our bikes and practise for the Tour de France, or even just cycle round the country lanes or perhaps go a little further afield and try the cycle path along the stunning Mayenne river, stopping along the way for a crepe and a coffee.
