Coronavirus - Latest Travel News From the UK and France

What the governments are saying

UK scientists say that the virus is going in right direction, but not fast enough. Case numbers remain too high and hospitals are still too full. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has responded to calls for clarity about what might happen next and when. He has stated that 8th March is a target date for starting to ease the lockdown. That’s all it is at this stage though – a target.

French health experts say the curfew is not slowing down the virus enough and have called for a third lockdown. President Macron is expected to make an announcement soon (date not yet announced), but a government official stated that a strict lockdown is one of the things being considered.

What we say

It’s very obvious that nobody is yet in a position to predict what is going to happen next. In the meantime, we are focussing our efforts on people who have holidays in March and April. People with March bookings are the most likely to be impacted by travel restrictions and these people are our current priority. Mass vaccinations are now under way in both countries and we are hoping that this will bring us all some good news soon.
