Simple Devastating Carp Fishing Tactics in France

Phil Calladine catches three 40s in a row and pauses to explain his simple but devastating tactics. Includes details of his rig and baits.

It's interesting to note that within hours of Phil packing away, carp angler Eddie Lloyd banked a 46lb mirror just 3 yards to the left of Phil's hotspot. That's the 4th consecutive 40 pounder caught from an area little bigger than a standard kitchen worktop.

The Exact Spot Pinpointed

The picture above shows the Oakview Lake island as seen from the home swim where Phil was fishing. Phil's spot is at the centre of the picture, just behind the overhanging branch directly ahead. Thanks to Eddie Lloyd, we now know that Phil's big fish hotspot extends as far as the tree trunk, which is just visible on the island at centre left of the picture.

The above close-up picture of the Oakview Lake island viewed from the home swim shows the exact spot. Phil's overhanging branch can be seen at centre right and Eddie's 'v' shaped tree trunk can be seen clearly to its left.

Baiting Tactics, Rod Set Up, Rig and Boilies

In the short video, we see the three 40lb carp that Phil caught off this hotspot, which includes his PB and a new lake record common carp at 46lb 2oz. Phil also demonstrates his rod set up, his baiting tactics, his rig and the hook baits he used during his carp fishing holiday at Oakview Lake in France.

Will this particular hotspot continue to produce big carp all summer? No, because we all know that carp are not as stupid as some would have us believe. Is it worth always putting a rod on this spot? Probably, because it is an obvious patrol route. As the summer progresses, is it worth baiting this spot heavily for several days before fishing it? Now that's a carp fishing tactic worth thinking about!
